Went ultralight jigging in 46 degree Carnegie Lake this afternoon on a cold, cloudy day with little wind. Saw two other fishermen catch fish 🎣. I caught and released 5 white perch, 2 yellow bullheads and an American eel with garlic night crawlers on 4 lb test line. Fish 🐟 were swirling. Saw Canada geese, mallards 🦆, double crested cormorants, great egrets, great blue heron, and gulls nearby. Took photos.

GW imagine being on a big flat rock in the middle of the river in the middle of the night catfish.

Rod started dancing n line was going out.
Man what a catfish. So I thought..
Finally get it to the rock. It's n eel near 4'. First I ever caught.
Mid 60's when that happened.
Caught many more more over the yrs on night trips.
They are a handful 👍

Hey Bands, is that white colored stuff snow or light colored dirt?
I remember an eeI caught. I was on a family camping trip in Maine, well after dark and I was fishing off a little dock. Got a bite that bent my rod in half. When I finally got it to the dock I couldn't see what it was, so I grab b Ed the line and dragged it to our campsite where I could see. It was huge to me, probably 2 feet a n d was the biggest thing I'd ever taken from fresh water.

Long ago I caught my first eel. It was about 18 - 20 inches long. Brought it home and put it in a fish tank in my bedroom. I woke up a few days later and the eel was gone. We looked all over but couldn’t find him. A few days after that my sister was cleaning under her bed and found him, still alive and covered in dust bunnies. I put him back in the fish tank and weighed down the cover but at my Mom’s insistence took him down to the lake & let him go the next day.

Dirt. If it was snow, I probably wouldn’t be fishing 🎣.

Was wondering, I hadn't heard about Trenton getting any snow.

I’m hoping for no snow again this winter so that I can go fishing 🎣 daily.

I just looked at a long term report for the wi term. With the El Nino situation, the now expect colder temps and more snow for our area. Who knows......

I recommend trying the branch of the Millstone River just off the US130 circle near Hightstown. Anoutvhslf mile in from highway. I have always caught nice sized pickeral on floating silver minnows or Mepps spoons. Productive all Winter
