WHY DOES INSURANCE CO not want me to put mileage in when handing over the title to my car?

One of my insureds came to my office so I could help with the procedure before sending title and keys to claims. She couldn’t remember. I’m assuming the insurance co or salvage yard fill it so it’s accurate.

They have exact mileage from the adjuster. Something sounds a little shady.

Seems you already settled claim and getting a check, curious what your concerns are? Maybe something I’m unaware of would be good for me to know in future. I had a truck totaled years ago and don’t remember the exact process w mileage.

Post pandemic claims are way different than 40+ years ago when I started as an agent.

Seems they are merely trying to avoid someone putting in a wrong number and having to reapply for new title without mistakes. They sent an email explaining and providing the accurate number so I can write it in. Phew!!
