Hello,
When is the best time in Dec., 2023 given that the weather forecast says cloudy.

Can someone please tell me what time is the best time to go squid jigging in Puget Sound like maybe over at Seacrest Park Pier or Shilshole Marina? Ive never been squidding before but I’m now prepared to go and have tjuu this week off but don’t know when is the most optimal time off a pier in King County. I read that daylight tide or high tide is the best time to go??

So does anyone have an answer given the above info?)
(2023). I’m assuming night is best btw?

It looks like fun!
Thanks in advance!!

Pretty much any time you can find a space. I think the squid tend to come in closer to the docks at night but people do catch them during the day. There are a couple of Puget Sound squid pages on FB as well. I think some docks close at night but I don't know for sure.

Edmonds Pier at sunset was my favorite.

squid at night for sure
Point Defiance Fishing pier is good. bring bright light or Neon light for attraction.
they will congregate around light areas.

Seacrest after dark is very popular. You need to bring your own very powerful light or be lucky enough to stand near someone else who brought one and doesn't mind. I don't think tide level matters.

There is truly best time. The best thing is go. Incoming evening tides you most likely see the most people there. Take pole, rain gear and dress warm. Stop at any tackle place and ask if they have squid jigs. Buy 2 one heavy and one lighter, best colors red and green. Heavy one on bottom, lighter one about 1' above. Stand next to someone and ask them their technique. You squiding. Also watch You Tube videos! Good luck 👍

Kitsap county here, Manchester. I am seeing locations identified but no reports of success, or lack thereof. Nothing doing over here since first of November. Are results better elsewhere?

Yes I know all the spots and techniques. The only thing I’m looking for is WHEN and WHERE to go?? I’ve been to seacrest park pier and behind Elliot’s Oyster house both after 10-11pm with no luck. The ppl
At seacrest had been there a while with one person saying they caught ONE! Didn’t even see anyone at Elliots Oyster house so I wasn’t even sure that was the spot and didn’t even drop a line. Maybe I’ll try Shilshole??? As anyone heard of anyone catching anything in Dec. 2023 yet?? Or does anyone know of any up-to-date online squid catching reports to be able to view??

Thank you for your replies! 😃🙏🏻

The best I have done is Alkai Beach in West Seattle this time of year. I haven't been this year, but try there and let me know if you do any good. Good Luck

Alki beach? Or did u mean Seacrest Park pier by the Marination Ma Kai restaurant? It appears that the high tide is around 5am. Has anyone gone THAT early(or late if ur a night owl like myself lol)? Also, is it ok to park overnight there? Or at any of the other Puget Sound piers (near Elliot’s Oyster house, Shilshole, etc.?
Thanks for all ur replies! Art

Seacrest Park, the restaurant has good food and a nice selection of beer. I just went after dark, I always got something there.

Did u say Alki BEACH? Or are you referring to the pier there? If not....you can actually catch squid from the "Beach?" Isn't it too shallow there?
Thanks!
