Was a drizzley rainy day, I got out of work early, Can’t tuck point in the rain. I figured the fish were already wet I may as well give it a shot. Hit the ramp at Edgewater 2:45. Air temp 46 water at 42.6. Rain stopped. Went to my same spot off the west lighthouse. Fishing by 3:00 first perch at 3:20. Second at 3:30 third fish was the smallest walleye I’ve ever caught. Reeled him up slow and luckily he swam away! After that I caught one perch about every 15 min till I had 8. It was just after sunset and I picked up my right hand side rod after a few small taps. Wow it was heavy!! Thought I either have a double, a sheepshead or nice walleye. Luckily for me it was the walleye. After a short battle on an ultra light rod I netted my new PB walleye!!! Measured in at 27&1/2 inches weighing 6&1/2 pounds. I gave it another 1/2 hour then called it a night. Back to the launch by 6:00

Awesome catching Jason! Congrats on the PB brother, that's a beauty.
Thanks guys!!
There was a bunch of boats out there (about 30 trailers in the lot) but I was the only one bottom fishing for perch. All the other rigs were trolling for walleye.

Sure am Butch. This year I’m planning to bring perch and walleye for the fish fry.

That is a great catch, and 27.5 is mine and my wife's personal best here in Nebraska. 28+ is our goal now.
