That’s a great catch from the jetty. We went by boat and got thirty for my friend Don, his son Wyatt and me. Wyatt pulled up half our rings and he’s only nine.

How did you catch them from the beach?

Great job from the jetty and beach Isaac! You used snares?

Just cast from the beach by the Jetty. Got some big ones on that side.

Good job, Isaac! Did you cast out nets from the beach or did you catch all those beauties on snares? What did you use for bait? And what was the tide doing while you were out there - coming in, going out or slack?

Also, my understanding is that you don't need a fishing license if you are on fishing from the rock jetty but you do need a license if fishing/crabbing from the beach.

One more point - I haven't been successful enough yet to put it to the test, but I've read that the crabs will stay alive longer if they are just in a cooler with ice packs (not bagged ice!) than if they are in a bucket of water. Evidently they consume all the oxygen in the water pretty quickly and expire sooner than later.
