Looking for info on crappie or white bass fishing on Lake Dardanelle, AR
As the bulk temperature of the lake drops, fish will start moving up into the power plant discharge. Problem is you'll need a boat to get up close. Be sure and stay away from the floating security barriers. I'm not sure what the discharge temperature is right now, though.
In years past, you could fish right by the parking lot and in the dead of winter pull a limit of white bass out in just a few hours. There would be some crappie and an occasional striper in the mix. After 9/11, access to that area was blocked off, even to plant workers.
There are some good videos on YouTube showing people catching decent stripers in the discharge durimg the winter. Good luck!
Thanks, Eagleclaw! Makes me even more !to get my boat ready for the lake
Referring to the power plant discharge location in my earlier post, you can reach a Game & Fish access ramp by following Hwy 64/Hwy 333/ May Road to the ramp. Here is a link to very useful depth map for the lake; I hope it will load for you. Be careful in there, as there are some shallow areas and possibly snags and submerged stick-ups.
https://usa.fishermap.org/depth-map/lake-dardanelle-ar/Other places that are generally known to hold some crappie are the bridge pilings - Hwy 64, R/R, I-40, and the Twin Bridges up the Illinois Bayou. Be careful in the Bayou and try to stay in the channel. (I know - having had to pull the motor off the transom and replace a shear pin in mid-lake during duck season!)
If you don’t launch at the May Road ramp, but come into the discharge canal from the lake/river, stay away from the bank just downstream of the outlet. A large area there is shallow and has lots of stickups that rotted off just below the water level. Swing wide and center in the channel.

Thanks for all the info, Eagleclaw! Appreciate your help! Tight lines.
