Fishers of Men

When Jesus walked along the Sea of Galilee shoreline, he observed just how hard the fishermen worked to harvest a few fish. He tested Peter’s willingness to follow his orders by asking him to lower his nets on the other side of his boat. The results of a net straining catch were obvious, but not the real point.

By following Christ, they would no longer be catchers of fish, but more important, they would become fishers of men, under Jesus Christ’s direction.

It is important that you, everyone, lives their lives so the life they live is a shining example of what one should be like. It is important that we live our daily lives, so we will be ready to both live our lives, but also ready to give an answer of ‘why’ we do so.

However, when we spit out curses, or angry and heated vitriolic replies, it isn’t becoming or such as becoming a person who is Christ-like, but just the reverse and makes the one uttering them to be less in the view of those who hear them.

Is it possible to always be right, say the correct thing, and be able to live a sinless example? I don’t think so, but it is a worthy goal for all.

If you will notice I believe every apostle received strong criticism at one time or another! Did that imply they were Hell bound? No!

Let’s take fishing for fish as an example. If you fish for half a day and catch nothing, is that enough to quit fishing and give your tackle to someone else? No, neither is a streak of poor luck a reason to quit.

Hardly! When you talk to any senior who has finally found the combination to find and catch respectable stringers of fish, you will probably find they have had to wade through months of disappointment. But they have also stuck with those periods until they find the right combination and become a success. No one is an instant and sustaining success.

Remember this, if you are a Christian, you have an obligation to reach out a helping hand to others. Be willing to attempt to lead because you may be the only person who has turned their lives around and can extend a hand to your brother, friend, or neighbor.

I feel sure we will be held accountable for those opportunities. I believe it will get easier as we continue to practice these steps. Just Sayin…RJS

It’s all about Jesus.
The Bible says that we were dead in our trespasses. It can’t be about “works” because dead people can’t work.
“Out of the same mouth you praise me with you curse men, this can not be. “
RJ is good!
But God is great!👍😁🙏

A great read Mr. Samples. I hope all who read this grab ahold of the accountability part. We might not see the results of our labor, but don't be guilty of not doing your part.

I chose the gate not the trap door. We have the best “attorney “ in the universe—Jesus!
