Came to Colllins Lake for a trout tournament and caught spotted bass, crappie and trout from my kayak! Trolling Berkley Hit Sticks and Flicker Shads :-)

You know 3 of us were there at 0630 on Friday anticipating a good day of fishing since they had planted on Thur for the tournament. We stayed till about 1:30 and none of us got a bite. In fact everyone we could see along the shoreline did not catch anything?? I don't understand it. I guess either the fish were not hungry, in shock from the plant from day before, or there was no plant?? Any ideas?

I was talking to Cal Kellogg, who guides at that lake on Thursday. He said it was really slow. He took 4 anglers out and only caught 1 trout the whole day. I fIshed Friday and caught 2 fish. Then on the weekend, I caught 1 all weekend, but it was bug enough to place 3rd in a tournament. 3 of us in kayaks placed 1st, 3rd and 4th!
