Hey folks.
Had a great day yesterday down the Jersey Shore. First I checked out the public beach Sea Girt, shoulder to shoulder guys fishing, not for me. Then drove north to where AirForceMaj lets me park behind his house. Walked over to the beach where there was just one lady sitting and reading a book. We exchanged "hellos" and I went a bit up the beach to get at it. Threw in a green bucktail jighead on a 3oz weight and left it there just to see if any "drifters" were swimming by. Nada. Hooked up a white paddletail and started casting. Others showed up as the tide was coming in but all were friendly and kept moving. Guy comes about 20 yards up and on his 2nd cast lands a nice @23 incher. I said "You gotta be kidding me" I've been here over an hour. He actually apologized, lolol!!
I switched to a green paddletail attached to a jighead for more weight as his catch was a good 20 ft beyond where I was able to get to with the rubber alone. Still nada, then I see guys on phones running past me down the beach. Looked down and saw the water boiling with menhaden and big stripers chasing them down. Cast in with polite distance from the 5 other guys chasing the school and pulled out a nice 23incher. As it has to be 28, had to throw it back and because I was a distance from my gear did not have my phone for a pic, sorry. Man, do they give a good tug!! Glad my 20test line didn't snap.
I took pics of the beach but, new phone , can't figure it out right now. Try later.
May go back tonight, it was so exciting!!

Nice catching Kandy! Glad you got in on some action. Fishing a blitz is exciting even when you're catching shorts. Thanks for sharing, I'm looking forward to the pictures.
Yee Hah! you were in the right place at the right time! Glad your efforts paid off!

The tug is the drug Kandy. Those Menhadens do attract the stripers as well as trout. Have you ever used Pro Cure scent? I prefer shrimp but they also have menhaden scent too.

Sounds like fun fun fun. Sounds like you had a good time. Adding pictures is strange but gotta click on about 3 things in an order and it should load. Great post. Wish I was out there hookin em with you. Jarheadfishnfool makes the best Ceviche on earth with Stripers. Good Luck getting more of them. I think you will get bigger one if you go as much as possible during the hot bite.
I love the idea of putting some squid or cut bait etc on a line to just plunk ( bait on bottom ) while having second rod set up to throw different lures that you cast and retrieve. Might cross your plunking line but great idea to have scented bait in an area youβre throwing lures near. When I went Striper Fishing with Ben and Steve. We didnβt add scent to our lures. I may of rubbed some Striper fish slime on my hard plastic lipless crack bait just so it has lil scent.
Keep on hookin em.
Thanks guys. Couldn't do the 1 1/2 hr drive one way again today. I'll get down again before things get really too cold. I don't have waders or boots so going barefoot!!
Hope you took advantage of the bottle opener I left in the reefer for you! Glad you got one.
Oh NO! I thought everything was locked up since you were away. Got called out by Maureen who didn't recognize me in the moonlight coming back. Once I said "Martin's friend" She said "Oh Kathi, Hi!"
Really happy you let me park there and hope to get down again before the stripers migrate.
All guys on beach very nice. Exciting to hit the blitz!!!!
