Your question amuses me. How many days do you go without eating? Well, the fish in lakes, streams, and oceans are the same way. They all eat regularly. What fishermen have to do is find the cafeteria where they gather to eat.
I suggest you study the type of fish you are trying to catch, determine what they prefer to eat, an where that food hangs out, and its habits. Once you have that problem solved, you are more than halfway through the solution of your question.
Examine the habits and traits of bass contest fishermen, those that are consistent winners of contests. They can go out on a lake they've never fished before and catch fish. Why? Because they already know the habits and preferences of black bass!
