Side planer for bank fishing
Oregon Fishing

I plan to fish the lower Rogue in a couple of weeks for salmon. I will be fishing off the bank and not sure exactly where I will go but somewhere between the sand bar at the mouth and Agness. I am wondering if anyone has used side planers to fish plugs or bait off the bank? I have fished this area before with spinners and spoons and the water just moved my lures right back towards the edge. How useful is a side planer at keeping the offering in a sweet spot?
Thanks

You may be onto something…please, let us know if it works without creating a cluster for those fishing on either side of you.

Might try anchoring a fixed leader, 24/30" with large bead. Cast and set. Clip on a double snap short leader with plug, bait of your choice. You,ve got to shake it down to depth. Side planers definitely work, a little tricky though.

Yes, I saw a video with this method also. Definitely going to try this too, especially if I want to use bait.
