I haven't fished in a few months. Just noticed that one of our fishing bags is ruined. Lots of corrosion on the sliders. Can't open the zippers. Sliders are fused. Any way to fix this?

I tried fresh water and some vinegar on it. Didn't work.

I would try a dab of penetrating oil like "Seafoam" brand "Deepcreep", which comes in an aerosol form. Just enough to get into the zipper and not discolor or stain any fabric.

If you are able to get it free, there is a boat canvas/zipper product that works like "lip balm/chapstick" that can be applied to the zipper for future protection.

KG, try spraying it with WD-40 for a few days that has worked for me in the past. Then if that doesn't work spray Blaster on it but it has a smell for a few days, hope it works πŸ™

Empty the bag and first try soaking the zipper area in 91% Alcohol for a couple hours. Then if it don't start to free up, try the other ideas. The 91% will not do anything to the bag, but will penetrate the crud. IF you use the WD-40, wear rubber gloves. It will penetrate skin on contact and enter your blood stream. It is what they call an MSO type liquid.
Then try the 91% not 70% Alcohol again. 91% does not leave a film.

CLR may dissolve the deposits on the slider.

All good ideas to soak and hopefully break down the corrosion. If this fails to work, you can replace the slider. Amazon carries a selection of sliders in various type and sizes. You may also find them in a locally hobby shop or sewing store. measure the distance (In mm) across the base, the flat end. I just replaced a slider on my tent canopy a few months ago. Mine measured 5mm, I bought what they called a #5 or size 5. Worked great. At the ends of the zipper, there should be 2 metal clips that are pinched shut on the material. Gently pry them open a bit and remove. slide on the new slider and replace the clips (stops) Also, google this, there are some Goode YouTube videos out there. Good Luck!!

Take the bag and cash or credit card to Bass Pro Shop. They'll fix it!

Hmm. Didn't think of that. But then, some of the compartments are full and closed. (I have another bag with zippers that seized up. Only took pics of one.) Need to get stuff out first.

Don't worry about getting the WD40 on your skin some people use it for artists for the past 20 years some say it really works for them πŸ˜‚

Try Coca Cola. It dissolves corrosion on your vehicle battery terminals. Worth a try.

I tried vinegar. I don't think coke is more acidic than vinegar.

Vinegar had absolutely no effect.

PB BLASTER loosened a bolt on my jet unit that wouldn't move. It took a few days n some gentle persuasion but I got it the whole way in πŸ‘
