In a major conservation win, the state’s Wildlife and Fisheries Commission adopted a Notice of Intent late last week to create a minimum 1-mile coastwide buffer prohibiting commercial netting of Gulf menhaden and increasing fish spill penalties
It’s a big deal Troy. The menhaden commercial boats catch an enormous amount of piggies. With that an equally enormous amount of bycatch. We, the sportsmen of Louisiana, CCA of La. and other groups have been very vocal and placed lots of pressure on the LDWF. Great news for Louisiana. Hopefully the other Gulf states can follow suit or amend their existing regulations. Thanks for the post Troy.
