They can close every store they have forever as far as I am concerned. That store accused me of shoplifting the only time I used one of those self check outs. Long story, short, after multiple court appearances and about $10,000 later the judge threw it out of court for lack of evidence. I did successfully sue them for my time and money, which they paid. Walmart will never see another dime of my money and I will never use one of those self check out again.

I never use the self checkout. I want the cashiers to keep their jobs!

Safeway supermarket pulled me aside, said I only paid for 1 six pack of sodas.

They were right, don't use the same 6 pack three times anymore.

I have never used the self check out, irritates me enough that they want to see my receipt and look my cart over.

actually I applaud them for closing on Thanksgiving day. I wish all stores would do the same i renember when all stores use to close on Sunday. as for the self check outs I generally think it speeds things up especially if you are just buying a few things. out here Walmart doesn't provide any paper or plastic bags any more so you either have to bring your own or take everything to your cat loose big hazzle but that is in response to our crazy laws out here requiring them to charge fir the bags and ban on single use plastic bags altogeather

Besides this I remember when they changed to plastic bags because paper bags were bad for the forests.

I never use the self checkout. I don't trust them period! If I come to the checkout and there are no cashiers I'll park my shopping cart and walk out . I don't need to put up with their nonsense. And I'll not likely go back and if I do I'll likely give them a piece of my mind about their service.

And there is more petroleum used in the manufacture transport and distribution of plastic bags then in the equivalent paper bags. Go figure.
