Striper Master Ben, Striper Sensei Steve and I fished the Napa on a windy, mild and beautiful day today. Ben was kind enough to take us out in his boat and as usual we launched from Cuttings Wharf at about 7:15 am. By 7:30 Steve landed our first striper trolling, it was a short, but no skunk right off the bat. We continued to troll without much luck and then started casting up in one of the sloughs. Then Ben landed our first keeper, then another, then a short, Steve and I began to wonder if the fish didn’t like us. Then Steve landed another short, I landed a keeper, and I another short. Ben landed another keeper, just 18 1/4” and we decided to let him grow a little. After a few more shorts by all of us Ben landed another keeper. We continued to alter between trolling and casting with no luck and got back to the dock at about 12:30. The bite overall was a bit slow, but enough to keep us entertained and out for just over 5 hours. Thanks Ben and Steve!!
Another “fisherman” on the river bank fishing…….
The 4 keepers, fillets for all!

Nice catching guys. It sounds like you all had some fun and brought home dinner, so it's a win even if it's kinda slow. Thanks for the pictures and report Denny.

Yeah it was a nice day except for the WIND. It was brutal by 0900.
I was constantly on the trollin motor. If you stopped to land a fish or fix a tangled line you were over a hundred yards out of position by the time you were done.
Other than that it was a very nice day. Thanks Ben and Denny for the outing.
We had our fresh fish for dinner last night.

Thanks Fred! It was good getting out with Ben and Steve, hadn’t seen them in a while and it was nice to catch up.

It certainly was for Ben, but Steve and I contributed and it was good just being out, thanks Flytier!
