Ultralight fly rod/reel
I'm aware most people dont recommend a short fly rod.
But im looking for a 6' or less rod and reel that I can put in my truck so it's more convenient to use.
My current rod is a hand me down that's 8.5 feet.
The reel leaves much to be desired, I don't mind a fully mechanical reel without drag.
I have no idea pricing because the only rods I've found are on Ebay and I don't trust myself enough to not buy a complete POS.
I'd like more of a budget rod if that's even possible.
Thank you for your time and knowledge!

Since you're OK with budget stuff, I'll assume you're like me in that more than likely a bad cast is a result of the user, not the equipment (meaning you're not too critical/demanding).
If you are fishing small streams, you might want to check out some of the new fiberglass rods. Most come in 2/3 wt and are 6-7 feet long. The reel honestly doesn't matter in that situation...it's just holding line. You'll want a double-taper floating line if you go fiberglass.
Cabelas has a cheap fiberglass rod in the CGR. Reddington has a butterstick for a bit more money. If you want graphite, Cabela's also has a "stowaway" series that breaks down very small (~6 pieces). With these you can use a WF line. All of these options you can get an entire package between $150-300.

You're the best, thank you.
I already know I suck at casting but I still enjoy it none the less.
I'll look into both, if the reel doesn't matter would a Zero work fine? Like 35$ atm

where are you finding a zero for $35? I have 4/5 one and its pretty great, really all you need until you get into trout that are going to pull. It's a lot lighter than my rise ii which is nice when you're going for a shorter lighter rod.

I have a Cabela’s CGR 5’9 3wt and it’s great for fishing small streams. They’re $69.99.

You wanting to put it in the truck without breaking it down? Could get a full size 2 piece rod and pop it in half (leaving it strung up) and throw a couple rubber bands around it.

Try owning a short bed Tacoma with 2 dogs lol
Bed will soon have a rack for a RTT but still limited which is why I need something compact.

I got a nice combo package from Cabalas some years ago. 6wt fly fishing rod and reel, line, tipit. I believe it was a 6’ rod. I’m willing to bet you’ll find something there.
If you don't give a hoot about the drag, the Orvis Battenkill I is a super well built reel for $100.00. I defy you to find a nicer reel for the money. But the drag is click and pawl which is great if all you use the reel for is to hold the line. This Orvis will last you a lifetime and you can pass it down when you're gone. I looked on Amazon and have a couple of 6' rods for about 50 bucks. No idea what the quality is. But for small fish on small streams? Come on now!
Eagle claw feather lite 6’6 2piece fly rod. I carried one for 30 years. Daiwa under slung spincast reel. 25-30 dollars on Amazon just got 2nd rod. I trout fish in western North Carolina rivers. I Love my unorthodox rig.
Hi,what I've done was get a regular rod and cut the back of the handle, I put the stopper back on of the back, attach my fly reel and I was ready. When I got my fly rod, I had limited funds and got a 8 ft. Fly rod with the reel . Some how when we moved my make shift rod broke. I haven't made another shift rod but it worked. I hope this will give an idea. Take care.
