The voices raise when one doesn't want to hear anyone else.

Seems to be a worldwide problem at this time.
What a shame there's never a real winner

Thunder is impressive, but it is lightning that does the work!

A chore it is Wulffy. However, sometimes we don't get our chores done in time and than it's crow consumption time.

Yes! More and more these days I just don't want to be around loud, raucous people.

Wulffy
Rain makes corn
Corn makes whiskey
Whiskey makes my baby a little frisky.

Graywulff,
Could not agree more.
If you can bare a little related personal history which I think relates to your post:
I was raised before there were pop-up toasters.
We had to open the toaster door to flip the bread over when we thought it was time.
Invariably we ended up with burned toast.
To this day, there is not much I like more than blackened, burned to a crisp toast.
I know this as an "acquired tasted."
For decades now, I will sometimes offer to others (often my sons' male friends) the phrase "blood is an acquired taste." My attempted lesson to them is to learn to bite your tongue (however repeatedly) when appropriate and open your ears to listening, the last skill from my observation most of us develop. It starts to taste good.
