It's been awhile since Nebraska has had anything posted

Yes fall is here and the temperature is dropping and the fishing is getting more challenging, but surely there are some who are still catching. We're still catching at Sherman Reservoir, maybe not the walleye we want, but white bass is still something in the fridge.
The one crappie is 11 inches and the largest white bass is 15.5 inches.

We fried a few for lunch yesterday. (It's 1:30 a.m. and my body won't let me sleep.). These were large enough to give a lot of white meat and it was very tasty! I cut the red meat out, as I feel the red meat gives the filet an overbearing, bitter fishy taste.

My season ended six weeks ago. Had a cutoff wheel explode on a 4 1/2"angle grinder.
Hit me in the left forearm. I was doing fair at the inlet at Sherman till this happened.
Going to try to get out in the next week.

RE: Cleaning/filleting white bass.... Do you cut out the red meat along the lateral line before cooking ?

I just re-read the postings and found an answer to my question. I cut the filet along the lateral line and use a very small, very sharp knife to cut out the waste. White bass do well out on the great Plains...I've been there !

Sorry to hear about your accident. Having worked a short time in a metal fabrication shop I know that accidents can happen so fast and unexpectedly.

Our fishing season this year was very off and on due to truck troubles. We finally had to get a different truck and got to the lake as soon as we could. Monday looks like still another day to wet a hook so hope to at least run some Sea Foam through the motor.

Where is the ice ? Don't you normally fish through the ice at this time of year ?
I've caught perch and white bass at Lake McConoughay...but not lately !
