Took a week off to unwind and hang out with some family. Headed off to Baum lake/Cassel to do some fishing, good eats/drinks and fresh air. Lake was producing fish but nothing too big. Everyone was catching 10 to 20 fish a day. I ended up bringing 3 home for the smoker, all browns 2 about 3 pounds and 1 just short of 5 pounds. Kids were full of energy and had us out one night at midnight for a few hours to catch crawdads. They thought it was a blast and had them for snacks next night. Weather was on the cooler side 60’s during the day and under 30 in the mornings. This will be last year in a tent just getting to old for it lol.
Looks like it was an awesome trip. Thanks for sharing. Hope to get to that lake one of these days. Hear you about not sleeping on rocks anymore (lol). With that in mind, is there a place to stay near that lake or is it pretty much camping only?

We stay in Cassel which is dry camping. You can stay in the town of Burney just a few miles west or Fall River Mills 10 or so miles east. There are a few VBRO places right on the water across the road from Cassel. I think I took a picture of the ad/sign in front of the house if you want it. Looked nice.

Google VRBO 1795350 and it’ll pop up. It doesn’t show the cost but most places around there are around $150 a night.
Great info, and a decent price. Again many thanks. Maybe I can make a trip up there this coming year.
