hey, a little info I use live bait, ales or gizzards on Blaner boards down lives and floats. Mostly in 75-100ft and out about 30-35 on the boards. It will take some time to get the hang of it Good Luck!!!
Fishing from boat-chase the schools early and later part of day. Penhook Blackwater are delivering. Around Halesford there has been success.
At night go to light
All I use is artificial. Over near Halesford Bridge is Captain's Quarters. Go talk to Dwayne. He will square you away.
Other choice is to get a guide
Look into the Smith Mountain Striper Club. They meet about 8x a year.
You will find both men and women I. This club who are good fishing people and will share tips with you.
The club is also one of the main stewards of this fishery working along side DWR.
