Hello my name is Don and I live around the checotah area. I primarily fish the Arkansas River from Spanaird creek down to Kerr lake and dam mostly from the bank. I'm thinking about heading out to Oologah lake, any advise on where to get shad and bank fish?

Hello Outlaw. Welcome to the forum. Exit 264B is my favorite get off on interstate 40. Checotah OK & highway 69 which is my way home. Glad to have you on the forum. You're right close to lake Eufaula which has a good population of catfish. Kerr is also loaded with blue's & flathead. I fish Tenkiller & have good luck with my juglines. It's ony about 1o miles from my house to the boat ramp at Pettite bay. I've fished Oologah & it has some good catfish also. Just be careful on the Jake when the wind gets up. Ft Gibson lake may be the best catfish lake around. It's always easy to catch a mess of catfish on Gibson. I picked up on your name ndnoutlaw good name.

Hello bottomcoon. I've been up to Tenkiller just a few times, fished around Fisherman's Point boat ramp but didn't catch anything. Last time I went to go fish that area they had it all closed off. I seem to do better fishing the rivers than I do the lakes but with the lack of rain and the river not moving, I need to learn the lakes more.
