Minnesota or Wisconsin next summer?!
Minnesota Fishing, Wisconsin Fishing

Retired and living in Springfield Missouri, the summers get a bit too hot for me and my wife. I'd like to think about a place in either Minnesota or Wisconsin where I can take my 16 foot boat and spent several weeks or a month on or near a lake. Ideally, it wouldn't be a huge lake, since my tracker is only 16 ft with a 25 horse motor. Any thoughts or suggestions would really be appreciated!

The Manitowish chain in Wisconsin is 10 lakes of various sizes, wide variety of species, restaurants and bars accessible by boat, resorts and VRBO aplenty, wildlife, close enough to touristy things. Been going there for years.

Sounds like to me it would be an exchange of the oven to the freezer…🐟on

Dave - It's only -20 in those states in January. What's the problem?

As I remember Minnesota, You are jumping from the pot into the fire. In the summer, it is very hot, humid, lots of thunder storms and filled with mosquitos. That being said, as a fishing destination, it is outstanding.

I guess that in one aspect, you can save on electricity in the winter months by putting your perishables outside…😂🐟on

I was at mille lac lake Minnesota last summer. Excellent fishing. We stayed at Fishers resort. Very nice place, very clean, SUPER nice helpful people. It is a big lake, but we didn't have to go out far to get on the fish. I have a post under Minnesota mille lac lake with pictures if you can find it.

In general Mn. lakes are quite a bit bigger, thus more susceptible to winds. Northern Wi. is loaded with smaller and more small boat friendly lakes. Both have excellent fisheries and comparable weather.
