Brooksville FL.
I will be coming to Brooksville from the mountains of va for 2 weeks in March and hopefully bringing my kayak. Where is a good place to fish fresh or salt water? I like salt but not very good at it since I only fish it 1 time a year and that's always surf fishing. Thanks

Head to Leesburg area for Harris chain of lakes.......or along the Gulf Coast for salt water....lake Tsala Apopka in Inverness....or go up to Orange Lake near Citra......
Do you worry about alligators? I ve never saw one of them in the wild. I would probably mess my pants. Thanks so much for the help.

This is Florida....gators and snakes are in almost every lake .....keep eyes open....including snakes on low hanging trees and bushes.
Snakes doesn't bother me much since we have them here. Gators are a different thing but I'll learn. A side arm doesn't hurt anything either. Just for self defense you know. Thanks Ozzie

Get your CWP and carry....thats what I do.....might need them for 2 legged snakes someday?
I have mine and it's good in Florida so I'm covered. Your state is so busy and populated it's ready needed down there. Even while fishing.
Yes you are permitted to have a firearm when fishing in FL. No permit required. Alligator attacks are very rare. Just be aware if you are going swimming near mangroves and docs. Here in The Keys we also have crocodiles.
As of July you no longer have to have a concealed carry permit you can just carry.
Thanks for the info and I will keep my eyes open for gators. I've always wanted to bass fish fish in Florida so I think yall talked me into it.
