You have Spring Lake, mostly bass fishing from shore. There are also several lakes at RiverFront Park close to the Russian River area that also offers shore fishing for bass. Lake Sonoma is not far from u. It can offer great bass and cat fishing also from shore. If u what your son to experience fishing , I believe that your best option would be Lake Sonoma. Try fishing the shoreline near the marina for cat fish. Use the usual cat fish baits, worms, chicken livers or the many cat fish baits available at most bait shops.
