So we had a dory trip canceled for this weekend and we already have place to stay for the weekend in Lincoln City. We have no boat and was wondering if there is a place close by to drop a couple crab pots? Also we would like to still do some fishing for whatever, but would like to catch a salmon. Please share some places to try, that may show a some success. Would greatly appreciate it. God Bless

Dory? Well yeah you can drop pots in Newport in few places the one closer to the Highway ( further west ) is best. I been going there for 30+ years. If you drive a bit south to the next town with bay the crabbing is supposed to be even better. It hasn’t been raining yet so it should be good. You can go on a charter and it’s only 20$ to crab as well. At Dockside Charters. I wouldn’t launch a Dory in Lincoln

You might be able to throw a pot in from the beach over there by the jaws. I'm not sure. But for salmon, you best get down to the Salmon river. NOW might just be the right time for big Chinook.
