Central NE Michigan is my home. I have been fishing for nearly 70 years. The last 2 summers have been terrible due to health reasons as I have not been able to fish until 2 weeks ago. A new friend took me out on a lake new to both of us. We caught about a dozen undersized largemouth bass. We lost some larger fish as we were using light line for panfish. In the parking lot a fellow told us that we tried all of the spots but the right one. Wouldn't you know that to sound true.
Well I am going to try something that I have never done before now. During the middle of October my wife and I are going to Bear Lake north of us for a long weekend to see if the fish are biting. Normally I am out in my handicapped accessible blind with my crossbow but this year we both need time on the water.
Good luck. Glad you are able to get back out. Take care of yourself. Donβt over do yourself but have fun and be safe.
Best of luck to you on your trip!

Glad you are able to get back out there.
Thanks to all of you for your encouragement. If I catch anything I will try to get a picture. At the moment temps of 60 are being predicted. I have never fished a lake at those temps but years ago I did a lot of river and stream fishing with those conditions.

I have faith in you. You get out there and it will be like riding a bike.
My 2 granddaughters and a boyfriend came to our cabin so fishing became a group adventure. We caught a few gills and redeared sunfish.
My youngest granddaughter started her day by taking my best spinning reel and snarling it up from top to bottom. Later she threw a spin cast rod and reel into the lake while making a cast. It split in 2 but my wife took a kayak out and was able to recover it. She (the granddaughter) finished the day by throwing our catch back in the lake because she felt that we did not have enough. I use a basket so they were alive but... So there were no pictures and no fish to eat. We spent the rest of the day consoling her and repairing gear. The following day the weather was bad. Now you know the ending of the story. (This took so long to finish because we returned to take care of mother-in-law who passed away 2 weeks ago.)
