Hello all. Just joined. My work brings me to Baltimore once or twice every week or two. On a tugboat looking for information on fishing this area. Usually tied up around some type of pier. Water usually 15 to 25 ft deep. Any flounder to be had? Others? TIA

Welcome to the stage BWC, I am looking for that elusive flounder in these parts too. Just spent a little over a week in NC and got spoiled with the flounder catches.

Good luck with fishing here and stay away from down town Baltimore.

We're tied up beside the Broadway City Pier. Some of the crew went to get something to eat but personally I never leave the boat!

That area has changed from back in the day. Was really nice with a lot of outside seating restaurants and high end shops. Even entertainment in the circle on the weekends.

Now days if you are going to venture out, stay in a group. If you get a chance to fish, the Key Bridge and the Bay bridge are the most fished spots in that area.

I fish the Curtis Bay Coast Guard ship area mostly stripers and pickerel have been my catch. A few cat fish too.

Sure thing BWC, I hope you get to enjoy a good Maryland crab cake while you are in town.

Some good restaurants for something different are over in a area called Little Italy. Obvious no crab there but good Italian food. One other place called Tio Pepe's will fill your belly too.

If I get a chance I'll try to check it out. Got what was supposed to be crab stuffed flounder at a restaurant in a town on the North End of Albemarle sound in North carolina. Was supposed to be off the chain. $100 for me and the deckhand and he just had a sandwich. It was flat nasty. Like raw fish salad or something.

I was born here in Maryland and 2005 to 2020 lived in Belhaven North Carolina. Now back to the way sea food should be prepared.

The locals there boiled their crabs with the back shell removed and no seasoning. Nasty is being polite. They need to stick to pig pull barbecues. It took this Yankee to show them how it's done with Old Bay seasoning and also introduced them to cocktail sauce with the raw oysters.

However, if you ever get back to NC and go to the Nags Head area try Dirty Dicks Crab House. I think they have Yankee's cooking for them. Some fine eats there.

If you run into the harbor master there by the name of Jack Kinlein he is my wife's nephew. One busy guy from what he says the last time we saw him.

As for running into him I rarely get off the boat. Only way it would happen is if he were to come by the tug when we're here.
