Hi all,
I’ve been reading this blog for several months and really appreciate the respectful conversation and advice I’ve seen here! This is my first post. I’ve been fishing (trout, steelhead, salmon, bass) in the northwest (lakes, rivers and ocean) for about 50 years. I’m headed up to Waitts Lake for the first time later this week with family and was wondering if anyone had any info on how the fishing is on that lake and the best ways to fish it. I will be taking my 16’ StarCraft to fish from.
I appreciate your time and Thanks in advance for any advice.
Orie

I love Waitts lake so much that I bough a place there to retire to in March “counting the days” just a little place up the hill on s lake view lane! As far as the fishing rainbows and browns are in good quality I have the most success on the north west side between the resort and big house you’ll know the house when you see it! Slow troll with a silver ford fender with a 10 inch leader small hook and a piece of nightcrawler and you should have some fish in No time! When I target the browns I use white marshmallows and crawlers or mellows and shrimp floated off the bottom about 4 feet. Hope you have a good trip and catch some nice fish! Try to save some fish for me please

Good advice above. If all else fails, power bait suspended above the weeds on the bottom or a wedding ring tipped with a night crawler works. Good luck!

Waitts is a very nice lake. We stayed at Winona Beach resort in a nice rustic cabin. The weather was very rainy the first day and first day out with the boat so not a lot of fishing. Second day was a pleasant day and 6 Browns and 4 Rainbows between the two of us fishing. 8 in the 12 - 16 inch range and 2 slightly smaller. Used the recommended Fords and worm around 30’ - 40’ depth for all but 1 on green power bait still fishing while I tested the anchor setting on the Terrova (awesome trolling motor). And we got our limits in about 4 hours. Very nice day of fishing and great stay at the resort. Thanks to both of you for the advice.
