Hi all, I'm new here so I guess I have to do a short introduction about who I am. My name is Rick Lawrence (AKA) the Fish-N-Fool. I'm retired and live in N. Idaho on Hoodoo Creek near Priest River. I'm an avid Pike, Bass, and Muskie fisherman. I also fish for Sturgeon and trout some. I'm an outdoors writer and I write mainly Pike and Bass fishing how to articles for quite a few different magazines, and websites.
I'm an inventor also and I produced my own line of fishing lures, The Sink-N-Fool (which was my most popular bait), the Flash-N-Fool, Chatter-N-Fool, a trailer called a Wiggle-N-Fool, my Slow Fall Jig and the Mighty Mouse. I used to sell baits online and in the stores by my company Fish-N-Fool Lures. I still make lures for me and a few friends, but have retired from selling them in the stores and online.
I also created the world's strongest line to lure fishing knot. The Fish-N-Fool Knot, which won the Knot Wars competition on TV back in 2009. IT beat all the other knots like the Palomar, Trilene, San Diego, and all others in a head-to-head strength test. It is still the strongest knot they ever tested with braid or mono. There are about 50 videos on YouTube showing how to tie my Fish-N-Fool knot but they all do it wrong! LOL To tie my knot quick and easy is all about how you hold the line. So if you are interested in learning this great knot here is the url to my video on how to tie it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA2XKUF11_8
Skip ahead to 2:45 to learn how to tie the knot, the first part is about my Sink-N-Fool lures and me being a little bit full of myself! LOL
Now days I just chase my next big fish. I just got back from a week-long Sturgeon fishing trip to Southern Idaho. IT was a fairly good trip, but we didn't get any over 7 foot monsters like I got last year. Big fish this year was 5 ft. 11 in. I had one of my best years for Pike in the last 5 years. I got close to 100 total on the year and 2 over 20 lbs. with 3 more over 15lbs.
I'm hoping to add to that still this year and get a new PB Pike of over 28 lbs. I make or modify about 75% of all the lures I fish by painting them or tweaking them in some way. If any of you are interested in reading some of my Bass or Pike fishing articles I can post some of them here.
Tnx for letting me join your group, Fish-N-Fool

Welcome to the Stage. We will all enjoy your stories and look forward to them.
I'm gonna check out your knot and see how easy it is to tie. If it's easier to tie than the ones I use then I might switch. If "knot" then I'm happy to use the ones I do. They work for me anyway.

Hey FF. I don't mean to say that you didn't tie that knot first, but I've been usin that exact same knot on my Striper fishin rigs for about 5 or 6 years. I thought I was tying one I invented myself.
So glad to see that your knot is the same one that I tie. It's a pretty easy knot for me to tie and I've never had it fail me yet.
I've tried to show others that I've fished with that knot but they always seem to want to keep usin their knot.
Oh well. Just wanted to let you know.
I love that knot.
Actually, all it is , is a uni knot , except you run the line through the hook/lure eye twice before you tie the knot.
Still, I use it exclusively for all my Striper fishin. 🤠👍

Hey Saw1, tnx for the welcome. You are correct that it is a modified uni knot. Use 5 to 8 wraps around the lines more with braid and lighter lines less with heavy lines. I started tying this knot about 40 years ago and put the name to it in 1998 Nice to see other guys that like and use the knot. I didnt reinvent the wheel here so I'm sure a lot of guys have used this same knot before. I just put a name to it and posted it online first.
Dont just use it for strippers use it for all your fishing its great even with super light lines.

That's true. I use 7 wraps and the knot has never failed yet.
I use to use a uni knot for most of my knots and I started usin this knot because I thought the second loop through the eye might be a stronger knot for holdin heavy fish.
I do use this knot for most all my fishin now.🤠👍

Yes the only thing you have to be careful of when tying this knot, is to not let the lines cross on the hook eye. As long as the lines are side by side you will never break this knot.

Thanks, I'll remember that. So far it's never failed or broken yet.
