In Alaska there is a large national park called Denali National Park. Within said park is Mt. McKinley. Before it was called Mt. McKinley it was simply called Mt. Denali or just Denali.
In the Native Alaskan language what does Denali mean?
I learned this years ago while Salmon fishing 🎣 and Gold panning.
Yes I was successful at both.

Don't know what it stands for but I do know it's the tallest mountain in north america. My son has a GMC Denali pick up truck.
Could be translated to up there one.
The high one! Saw it in 2015 (from a distance) while my Son was on his Pharmacy rotation and I went to visit him. It is spectacular! Took the train from Anchorage to Talkeetna to see it up close, but it was clouded over.
👍🏻. I was up there in 2000. Fished in Wasilla / Palmer as well as Big Soux and Deschka River Russian Byrd Creek. Few other places. Ate fresh Dark Red Salmon fresh on BBQ tasted almost like Beef instead of Fish. I was up there for 3 weeks.
Was fishing one day and a younger guy had something called Matanuska Thunder Beep. Fishing was very very interesting the rest of the day.

While there I cought a 30 lb Coho Salmon. Thought I hooked a Fraight Train.
My sister in law Youlanda is Navajo Indian living in Alaska. She was my guide to the remote Salmon stream.
She steamed the Salmon in a most unique way. She put it in aluminum foil, poured a can of tomato soup over it, then completely sealed it with more foil and put it in the top drawer of the dishwasher and ran a normal cycle.
It was super moist and most delicious.
In case you're wondering no soap or dishes were in there, just the fish.

I used to do something similar. Season ground beef and make hamburger size patties. Put the meat with raw veggies in foil, add a little broth and double wrap it in heavy foil.
Then place it on the truck or car engine.
By the time I drove to the camping fishing site and set up camp dinner was ready.
I'm waiting for the translation of Denali. I think it means "Most High One".

Dang it, I don't have a dishwasher. And I thought my method of microwaving fish was weird. Looks like I gotta go visiting with some fish & stuff. But tomato soup, Nah. Butter, Lemons, Herbs & freshly cracked pepper for my first try at this one. Thanks Cmdr. for the tip . . . .
The High (or big) one!!
And you did better than I - got skunked on the Keani (sp) River - with a guide!!! 4 of us in the boat on a float trip @ $400 each!!!

The mountain is again officially called Mt. Denal. We were going to name my oldest Daughter Denali (the great one), but upon researching the name, varied translations also included the tall one, the high one and the big one.
Knowing how kids are, we feared the big one would stick. As far as my daughter goes, she spent a lot of time exploring Denali in my child back pack back in the 70's. She also turned out to fit the name, the tall one.

Thanks for reminding me about the foil meals. We did the same thing with snowmobiles. On a subsequent trip to Alaska " The Last Frontier"

Answer to Denali meaning.
There are a few answers possible here. They all are similar depending on which Alaskan native you speak to:
The Great one
The Tall one or
Big Mountain.
If you guessed any of these you are the King, or Queen at the top of the mountain.
Congratulations.
