My daughter caught a 5 lb bass recently in the water out from their new house at rayburn .I wasn’t with them and they were fishing near a creek channel by some wood . She was using a spin - cast reel, and a rod from academy sports. I asked her what lure she was using and she said “ a blue sparkly worm “ . That’s usually the way it works , right ? Somebody with little to no bass fishing experience gets a decent fish . Anyway since then I bought her 2 good kistler rod as and a couple of decent bait caster reels. Went up there , showed her how to use a bait caster , and she didn’t backlash once while I was there . Hopefully a bass boat will be in their future . That boat she is on in the photo is their 22 ft center console w/ 250 Yamaha SHO / with a roof . Not exactly great for bass fishing but it also has a new garmin livescope on it now . I watched that thing work . Pretty neat , but I don’t see why they allow them in tournaments . Anyway now I have a new fishing partner when I can go …

Excellent, congrats to her!
I agree with you on the Livescope statement….how much info do these folks need??? It makes for good television, but it just puts more money into the companies pockets and can hurt the fish populations.

That's awesome Chuck.
Yes it seems to go that way.
My grandson got a nice tiger muskie on a brand new rod n reel I got for him.
He made a few casts n there it was.
I've made 1,000's n never got one.
I wouldn't have it any other way 😊.

I'd say she's hooked now 👍😊🎣

Thanks , Mr. OJ . She was pretty happy . The livescope stuff works pretty well, and I noticed a local tournament at Sam Rayburn allowed it . Problem was not everybody had it . Was not fair in my opinion .

Oh yeah , she’s hooked Mr. Grizz . Rayburn is being drawn down right now for repairs at the dam . They have lost the ability to launch their big boat for now , but she wades out from her property and has caught a few when they are at the lake . Good times. Lol

Those draw downs stops alot of good fishing.
The lakes n reservoirs draw downs let most of the ramps high n dry.

If she can cast a bait caster she can cast anything. Good on ya!
