Might just be some of that going on in the next few days. Lee is on the move.

Having some age discrimination problems where I teach. Brought in young oboe and bassoon teachers, which we needed, but now I see in a program of concerts in November that this "New Faculty Wind Quintet" has a horn player that is not me. I am the only horn teacher at the school, so "Hmmmm".
Have a meeting about it this afternoon with one of the directors. See what the heck is going on.
Thanks for asking
Stand your ground! Blow your horn! Just Sayin...RJS
Seems to me that giving the boat that name was just tempting fate.
There are days like that.
So, when they hired the new guys, bassoon and oboe, seems they already had a quintet with the flute from a "sister school" part of Wharton Institute. Woman in charge of all schools OK'd them coming to play some concerts in order to generate more students for the woodwinds. I am not happy with them doing this behind my back and I probably could file age discrimination charges but the woman who books the concerts said she would arrange for any group I had to have as many, if not more opportunities to play [and get paid $200 each] so I've decided to ride it out. How I speak to the new players when I see them teaching is yet to be settled. Don't want problems but what they did was really sneaky and I think downright mean, inconsiderate and thoughtless. But then, they're in their 20s so not suprised. Self serving.

Thanks for the update. Kids (anyone younger than 30) have been indoctrinated with a sense of entitlement. I’m not sure they are intentionally mean, but just clueless how they come across.

Yes, that's probably the case but Admin didn't have to just go along with them. Why didn't she think about how it would make me feel. Very upsetting in a school where she's always talking up adversity.

I assume you mean diversity? Sounds like she’s doing well with the adversity!😊. Leaders today are afraid to lead. They are afraid of offending someone. I know. It’s hard to keep from being discouraged. But we all have your back.
