More people than you know along the east coast and gulf coast die from these bacteria. If you have a cut, wound or scrape, it’s advisable not to surf fish or get your wound wet. Especially with the warm waters. These bacteria thrive in the higher temperatures. I’ve actually had it from a blue crab pinch through the fingernail. It took two months of antibiotics to finally kill it. I keep germX with me whenever I fish. See the link below. This is what I had according to the lab results.

Take heed Troy. My BFF when I lived NC had it, which was a contributing factor in his final days. All from using the creek water to rinse off the fish when cleaning.

A little knife cut here and there or a fin prick and that 85* creek water along with fish bacteria NOT GOOD.

fishandhuntman, it would help that when you respond to a post to hit quote reply. That way what you are responding it shows up with your reply.

I am a native North Carolinian, 81 years of age,and glad you asked that question. 60 to 70 years ago we got up to fresh air and water to start the day with vim, vigor, and vitality ready to go, and ended the day with energy to spare.

Around the late 70's or so(I was 35 or so), breathing became harder, energy levels fell way off as a result of less oxygen I believe. That time started the modern day level of cancer, fatigue, stressed to breathe and work, low energy, and beginning of depressed state of being.

Now almost 50 years later, we see the results of those factors, ESPECIALLY with our politicians being so depressed and stressed at trying to help the situation, while progress keeps increasing the deficit of air and clean water. SOOOOOO, we are POISONING our nation more rapidly every year, and cancer keeps increasing. So many people sick and dying, Governments worldwide are looking for ways to reduce the medical costs of supporting those people. I personally SUSPECT that Covid may be the start of helping that situation?

I also SUSPECT the disease in the water may be from the runoff of the huge hog farms in Eastern NC, among other pollutants too of course.

A bunch better than today for sure especially with so many today that don’t think there is such a thing.

King Mac, I lived in NC for 16 years until recently in the Belhaven area and felt the same with the regards to the runoff and not only at the hog farms. No buffer what so ever on the crop fields to collect fertilizers and the ditches empty into the creeks and rivers.

Houses built rather close to the water another concern too. Make one wonder just where is that septic tank!!!!
