I'm going to check out Lake Cuyamaca near San Diego in October. Never been there. Any tips on bait or a good location on the lake for catching fish would be appreciated.

Best to ask at the office near the boat rentals where you will need to get a permit to fish. They will know the latest on all that. Those conditions can change quickly so the people that work there know best.
It’s not a large lake and is 4600 feet above sea level, so like all mountain lakes it can get breezy. There are a number of species in the lake, including trout which are trucked in once the water temperature goes down…..possibly when you are there. There is a little restaurant overlooking the lake.
