You need a non-resident license or if you’re only going to fish for a few days a non-resident 10-day license.
Can get one online and print it at:
https://compass.dnr.maryland.gov/Can get it at the tackle store in OCMD next to Fish Tails on around 20th Street and the Bay or any other fishing store.
Also, no license is required if you fish from 2nd to 4th Street on the Bay bulkhead/walkway.
Sorry Camino guy. That opinion from DV tracker may be well intentioned but is wrong. I have owned a motel in ocean city for 42 years and you absolutely do not need a fishing license to fish from shore. Period. Neither resident or non resident. You would need a license to fish in fresh water, outside of ocean city.

Maryland has a tidal fishing license for salt warer.
Take your pick
I have a license for my boat and all who are on it but as soon as they fish from shore they need an individual license in the cheaspeake maybe different in OC
You must have a Chesapeake bay and coastal sport license if you fish from anywhere other than the free areas. It would ruin a trip to get that citation.
Hello Caminoguy and DV tracker and anyone else who is reading this. I just returned from a week in kodiak alaska and am sorry I didn't respond sooner. DVtracke was spot on when he said you do indeed need a fishing license when fishing from shore in Ocean City Md. It looks like I was the one giving incorrect but well intentioned "advice". I laughed when I read that you were exempt from the need for a license when fishing from the bayside bulkhead, 2nd to 4th street. But, voila, there it was in black and white, you are exempt from fishing from that bulkhead as well as an area closer to 125th street (bayside park I believe) and the oceanic motel fishing pier, which has their own license covering all that fish there. My apologies team, as my wife likes to say " you're wrong again". Good fishing all

Hello Caminoguy and DV tracker and anyone else who... (

Wow…Kodiak Alaska should have been good fishing; hope you caught many and had a fun time.
It’s nice of OCMD to provide a few areas with fishing license exemptions. I think the area around 125th street would have shallow water being that far up in the bay.
2nd to 4th street, you can just open your bail and the bait will drop into the boat channel of deeper water.
I heard the pier has good fishing at times, but there is a daily access fee of around $8 to fish from it.
For the Oceanic Fishing Pier, I believe there is an access fee or maybe no/reduced fee if staying at the hotel (not sure about it, I did not fish there), but did hear it has good fishing at times.
I once caught a 10 lb 4 oz flounder from the oceanic fishing pier in early October 1975. An excellent place to fish, regardless of price. This is NOT the fishing pier on the boardwalk
