Anyone know where I can get a replacement bail spring for a GanderMountain GSXT12-20 spinning reel? I've had this reel for many years now and it is in excellent shape except for the broken spring. The reel is useless now. I hate to junk this reel just because of the broken spring.

Don't need a spool, Don't need a whole reel (especially unknown condition of) The Mike's site didn't list Gander or GSXT series reels.
Thanks anyways.

Don’t get rid of the reel if you like it, go to a bait shop and see if they can steer you in the right direction, or go buy a cheesy reel for $20 at Walmart and snag the spring from it, chances are fair that it will work, I broke a spring once and took one from another reel that I didn’t use anymore, if you buy a reel and the spring is not the right size, you can return it, nothing to lose

If you spring for the 10 bucks, here's a place to purchase your reel's operating manual which should include a schematic and the spring part number. Just for starters.

I believe I used Mike's Reel Repair years ago to replace my Shimano bail spring; but they don't seem to carry Gander Mountain stuff.

You might try giving Mike's Reel Repair a phone call at 604-855-1119 and ask if they can direct you or maybe even find it for you. I was satisfied the one time I did business with them.
One thought, if you find a seller, open your reel up first to assess if you need more than just a spring. If I recall correctly with my Shimano, I purchased 3-parts which is where the schematic comes in handy.

Years back I had a reel that had a broken bail spring that wasn't available also. So what I did was to modify the reel by cutting the bail wire and permanently mounting the roller assembly. making the reel a manual pickup.

I believe Gander Mountain reels were made by Pflueger. You may try there.

That's an excellent fix sy.

Years ago I too had a broken bail spring and the guy had a some kind of wire bender and made a new bail spring for me.
Seem to be a great idea till I tried fishing with it. Well the new spring was so strong it kept closing the bail on the cast. Oh well.

I now hand flip on every cast. It eliminates line twist and once you get used to it, very easy to master.
