After 45 years as an architect i am retiring and filling my bucket list with fishing destinations starting with a membership at the Marin Rod and Gun Club. There's a quarter mile pier at the Marin end of the Richmond San Rafael bridge and members catch halibut and stripers every day. Best baits are live anchovy and 4" scented swimbaits on a slow retrieve. Great bunch of people and stiff drinks for $5 every afternoon. Happy to be here!

Hey JT
Welcome to the stage. I’ve had the opportunity to fish that dock several times. And yes the drinks are good. I’ve caught a lot of halibut and stripers in that area trolling between the piers and bridge. Be sure to share pics of your outings!!

Welcome JT. Glad to hear you're getting into the fishin you have available right where you live.
Please keep us posted of your adventures and your catch with lots of pics. Good luck and tight lines.
Will do-thanks! If anyone wants to wet a line at the MRGC just let me know and you'll be my guest!
Share photos of catches, good luck & cheers to tight lines🎣
The pier at Paradise park in Tiburon is reportedly the deepest part of San Francisco Bay. Salmon, steelhead, halibut and sturgeon are frequently caught there. Getting them landed is another challenge. I’ve resorted to the sierras and Kern River in particular native trout on the upper Kern these days. Merced River is also a good destination. The bottom of the gorge at the Yosemite lodge has some great native rainbows and browns.
Native Golden’s are still in the queue!
There’s no better place than the magical Sierra’s ( Gods country)for awesome trout fishing 🎣. Two favorite areas are Bucks lake & Graeagle . Thanks for your sharing🌝
Wow-good to know! Who'd have thought that was the deepest part of the entire bay! I've heard about sturgeon launching themselves like missiles at Raccoon Straits next to Angel Island-would love to see that!

I've seen that many times out on the Napa river. Some of them look like they're 8 feet long. Most aren't THAT big though. But plenty are in the 5 to 6 foot range.
Usually don't fish for them. We did catch a keeper size one 3 or 4 years ago. Haven't fished for them much since.
