I went out at Mesquite Bay in my kayak this morning looking for some stripers and ended up not getting a hit for the first hour trolling a square bill. So moved over towards some reeds and did some casting and had a wacky rigged 6-in plastic worm, blue in color on a rod situated between my toes. Got a good hit and the fight was on with a four and a quarter pound largemouth. Most fish are not in the shallow water with the warm temperatures but once in a while you get lucky with one searching for some breakfast. He tail walked across the water a little, tried to head for the reeds and I forced him over to the kayak and saw he was hooked deep. So I cut the line and released him as he wouldn't have survived the surgery to get that hook out. Hopefully he'll be okay to fight another day.

Nice Job Langer. I've cut back on my Wacky rigging for just that reason. If I do decide to use them, I mash the barb down on the hooks. It makes it easier to get out deep hooked ones. Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing.

Out this morning in my yak at Mesquite Bay for three and a half hours and got skunked. Didn't have a hit all morning in 109Β° heat but that's fishing.
Very nice! See ya out there soon. Fish on!

Terrible thing to deal with.
Talking with someone that knows what you're going through helps.
