So this is a follow up to my first post in meet n greet. After talking with the guys at Holiday Sports who tried there best to sell me a 1,000 $ worth of tackle I think I went away with a few good lures.
We went on Wed the 6th to north beach which I have to say is a beautiful location. My husband showed me how to cast and I watched what other guys were doing on retrieval. There was 12 or more fisher people there at the beach but plenty room. I didn't catch anything but did have great time! I saw 3 fish landed over the 3 hours we were there. Are those good numbers or should I try somewhere else?

When salmon fishing, it is as much about when as where. Salmon this time if year are migrating. Any fish producing location can be hot or cold depending upon time of day, tide and progression of the migration. You can beat the tide and time of day by asking others in the area if they fished the day before. If so when was the bite hot. Add 30 minutes and you may hit it hot again. The right tide and current can bring the fish into casting range. If the fish have moved on, it is just hit and miss. If there are alot of people, then there was likely hot fishing the prior day at that time.
With only 12 fishermen, I expect the bite is somewhere else because the human mass is elsewhere. Many fisher persons just drive from site to site until they see a crowd. Hint: If you are targeting pinks, they usually show themselves with jumpers on a regular basis.
As for myself. I do not enjoy combat fishing. I would rather catch a fish or two, or even get skunked on a beach with a few or no people rather than limit combat fishing. If a fish or two are caught or I see a jumper or two, then I know the fish are there. That is all I need to be encouraged. Have fun. Salmon fishing is often all or nothing.

I forgot to mention that the same is true for boat fishing. It seems salmon boats have some mystical magnetic attraction to other boats.
