Thomas Gillen Loc: Bethel Island, California

Howdy, howdy...

I'm the new guy to the group... I live on Bethel Island in California between San Francisco and Sacramento... Right on Sandmound Slough on the Sacramento River Delta System... My front door is 45 feet from the rivers edge... 😊

I live in a house within a marina so, I can walk all around the marina and fish for anything that swims in the area... Normally my catches include largemouth bass, bluegill, striped bass, crappie, catfish, and every once in a great while, I might catch a juvenile sturgeon... Oh, ya... I almost forgot, I catch so many crawdads/crawfish in my homemade traps, that it can get absolutely crazy!!!

I mainly fish between the cities of Antioch and Tracy... Through out the Frank's Tract area and around all of the neighboring islands... Some of the islands are accessible by car and sometimes I will stay over night on these islands and catch a bunch of catfish and striped bass...

I do fish other areas of the state off and on, especially when I go on one of my numerous deer, bird, or wild pig hunting trips... And I also do fish a little bit of saltwater, especially around the Pacifica/Half Moon Bay area and the Burlingame and Oyster Point/Candlestick Park areas... But, primarily I just fish where I described... I've been living on Bethel Island since 2000 (23 years) so, I feel pretty confident in where and when to fish this area... 😏

Well, I guess I'll send this off... I have to go and check my crawdad traps anyhow... 🦞

My uncles in-laws owned a marina out there when I was a Kid(70 Years ago), I remember my uncle reaching in to tires used as boat bumpers and pulling out catfish that would nest in them, I have concentrated on trout fishing for the last 40 years, foothill lakes are 45mins, sierras are 1 1/2 hours drive.
