Salmon in the rivers
Washington Fishing

I would like to start a thread forming a data base, stating when and where the salmon is this year with respect to the rivers. This list should cover any river coming from the Puget Sound.
Please share your info as an answer to this post if you are seeing the pinks or any other species of salmon heading up the rivers.
It would be great if you listed date, river and species.
I intend to cut and paste your posts on this site. I believe each time I post it, hopefully it should float to the top.
This might be a convenient tool for all of us.
Thanks in advance.

I would like to start a thread forming a data base... (show quote)

I’ve caught pinks in the Puyallup (2 weeks ago) but it’s slowing. My friends fishing the Quilicene (so?) and caught a few silvers and pinks 9/1. I fished the Nisqually yesterday but was skunked where I was at and someone told me they haven’t arrived in numbers yet.

Happy to share the following:

Puyallup River, 8/17, 8/18 and 8/19, ~300m down river from the SR167 bridge: Can’t see any fish given the color of the river, but I fished from 7am until 9am and tagged out on pink salmon. Saw one hatchery king on 8/18 landed. I landed a wild king on 8/19. Tagged out on pinks all three days in under two hours.

Duwamish River, 8/30: SO MANY PINKS on the incoming tide. Tagged out in less than an hour, twitching pink hoochies.

Duwamish River: 9/1 - 9/4 TONs of pink salmon in the river, both “running up” and “holding” (~100m down river of where I-5 crosses).
On low tide, holding in slow water and pools (down river of where I-5 crossed by about 100m), on incoming tide they’re running with the current (Fort Dent area), same on out going tide as I tagged out in 20 minutes on pinks as they all got pushed down river with the tide (Fort Dent area).
Have not seen coho or chinook save for the posts on FB of people landing them via flossing at the Tukwila Community Center or on bobber and eggs everywhere else.

Thx DK. It was combat fishing on the Puyallup when I went. I saw a few guys “flossing” and taking more than their 4 pink limit. I usually go by myself so if I land one on the gravel bar, my spot is usually taken before I get back there. Kinda frustrating but? I’m going to try again soon maybe next Wednesday. Thx again

Looking for status on Pinks at Point Defiance/Ruston area. Using a 2.0 hot pink buzz bomb. Fishing from kayak or the Les
Davis pier. What times of day and what jigs work best?

The kings in the Nisqually are about done. There are alot of fresh pinks coming in. Some still have sea lice on them. I like to fish them with wee dick nites. Brass and grass has been working well. Brass with green head.
