Good morning, way back in the 70's when I was stationed at El Toro marine air base, I would fish off the pier for Bonita, quite a thrill on light tackle!

Thank you for your service πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ, I remember those bonito runs back in those days , lite tackle on a diamond jig , those runs would come into the seal beach jetty pretty heavy , great memories.

I'm pretty much in the same boat physically and I live in Redlands and on a good day it takes me to long to get to the pier. I have so many memories of fishing there before the break water was totally finished.
Enjoy your time and maybe we can get together sometime πŸ˜‰

I enlisted in to the Marine corps in 67 with 3 other class mates and I had broken my neck diving off of a cliff on the Rogue River so I was told that I was not a person of interest for the Marines.
I was drafted the next year, did not say anything and was failed again. Much to my chagrin.
If you served l am indebted to you a long with few friends.Somendid not come home and some that did are still a mess. I'm praying for a few men still.
Anyway, back to fishing,( My outlet) if you can give me a week or two notice.maybe I can meet you at the pier. I used to bring a drop light and it made a difference. But I really don't know after all of these years.
Tight line my friend
