My wife and I have been selected to participate in a disabled fishing trip September 16th, 2023 on Fall Lake near Ely,
Was wondering what bait should we use for walleye?

Welcome to the stage Kenny and thank you for your service and sacrifice. I'm not much help but check out Tom Boley on you tube. Hopefully others will be along that can help. You might PM J in Cleveland, he fishes Lake Erie. A little more info will us to. Will you be fishing from a boat or shore. I'd check and see if Minnesota has a Lake map of fall Lake that you can tell where deeper water is coming to shallow water. That would be a good spot to fish or off of points. Good luck an share your pics Kenny and Wife👍

Welcome to the stage Kenny and Thanks for the time you gave this country. Come November I post a lot of names of users of what branch and time period they served. If you want to be added please post that info here.

As for you request send J in Cleveland a PM. A few of us got together this year and Jay provided quite the feast of walleye.

Hi Ken. I assume you are fishing out of The Veterans on the Lake Resort which is on the southwestern corner of the lake. If it were me in mid-September I'd pull crankbaits for walleyes. If that wasn't producing anything during the low light hours I'd use a jig with a leech or a spinner with a night crawlers and try to keep my presentation on the edge of the weeds or over the tops of the weeds if using a spinner. As you are aware the weather in northern Minnesota has cooled off this week in a big way which should trigger the fish. Possible overnight freeze in some parts of northern Minnesota. parts of Fall Lake are in the BWCA which may limit where you can fish. Best of luck to you fishing and thank you for your service to our country.

Thanks for the advice I'm hoping to catch a few but just being able to get out there fishing is going to be fantastic. The fish fry is just the bonus and hopefully with your advice we'll bring some home
