We launched out of Slaughter Creek about 0630 and got underway ASAP. We were on our way out to The Caissons, but the wind nixed that, it got sporty out past the point. We turned back to one of our walls and M immediately hooked a small Redfish which we've never seen in that portion of the river. She was released to grow. The White perch turned on for an hour and when the tide hit bottom they were done and so were we. 17 keepers and maybe 6 throw backs. Had to keep 2 smaller ones, we call them over achievers because they were gut hooked when they swallowed the hook. We're going to try Wacky rig hooks with a very wide gap to see if it stop that from happening. Circle hooks are a joke when it comes to White perch, they will swallow them.
I've had that same problem with bluegills. They swallow it down instead of turning to run.
Thanks for the report.
We have been catching quite a few of the Reds this year in the Little C.
Nice haul on the Perch.
