Lol. Haven't you noticed the thousands of boats. Tearing up the lake?? After Labor day and early morning your fishing will come back, it's called flatlanders syndrome during the summer months on Houghton.

OK it's a northern Michigan term that's well known in this part of the state, describing a fair amount of the population living in the lower portions of lower Michigan. A good amount of those that fit that category seems to lose all common sense and consideration for people that live up here and many somehow think they have special privileges to the lakes and land. Not saying that they ALL Do, but enough that by the time the weekends are over, most of us northern residents are very glad to see them leave for home. That constitutes a "Flatlander"

Thanks for the reply. I live in East Lansing, and we feel the same way when the students leave from MSU for summer break. We don’t have a term for it though. Lol

My family have had a place on the west shore since 1953. We fish and go for a boat ride . I have never had as many boats go past me fishing st 30 mph and 50 ft away as I had this summer. No concern for others just do what ever they want to.

Boat etiquette needs to be taught as a requirement to purchase a boat, because it is getting worst every year. It is also very dangerous if you are just fishing or kayaking and can’t get out of the way.
