He wrote my favorite Thanksgiving song;
We (Worship team)
sang it several times on Thanksgiving Sunday at Cowboy Church. For those who havenāt heard it, hereās Jimmy with āAn Attitude of Gratitudeā:

He wrote it several years ago for Marlo Thomas and her āThanks for the Givingā event at the hospital. He performed it there, but never recorded it again on any album. I found it years ago when searching for Thanksgiving songs to lead at church. I always tried to do special āthemeā type songs for every holiday, like Motherās Day, Fatherās Day, 9/11, Veteranās Day, etc.
Thanksgiving seemed like the hardest to find songs, but our Cowboy Church really liked Buffett, so we ended up doing it a few times over the 12 years I was Worship Leader. Most of the other holidays, there were lots of country songs to pick from. One of my favorites was,
āThe Hand That Rocks The Cradleā by Glen Campbell.
We did it a couple times for Motherās Day.

He will be missed by many.
It'll be "Five o'clock Somewhere" when I finish up some more yard work here shortly and then clean up a bit, & go a few blocks down the street here in Medford, and have me a margarita or two, & a "Cheeseburger in Paradise" at the Crossroads hotel with a "Margaritaville" bar/restaurant.
Had the pleasure of seeing him live twice. As said above, helluva good show that he put on. Particularly loved his patter between songs. At the show back in KC at the Starlight in Swope Park, he had a big screen showing beaches, ocean scenes, boats, etc. (Kind of a big deal 40++ years ago) covering most of the stage, so...really big images.
When the pic of his "PanAm Clipper" floatplane came on, with him fishing off the wing (!), the crowd roared its approval loudly.
He said to us..."not really trying to brag by showing this shot....just wanted y'all to see that I am spending YOUR MONEY quite wisely !"
The roar of approval became MUCH louder !! R.I.P. Jimmy....gone too soon.
