Hello everyone, I'm Karl and I live in the far northwest side of the City. I have a 15 year old Son and we look forward to learning more about nice quiet fishing spots to the north and west of the city.
Lake Five in Colgate is a nice, quiet spot with good fishing and boat rentals are available.
What are you fishing for?
Welcome to the stage. On the rare occasions I get out I fish in Wisconsin. My daughter and I tried Pewaukee Lake this summer. It was mid summer and hot. We caught two unimpressive bass. We're going to try again last week of September or beginning of October. Going for Northern or bass if they bite.
Hello,
We were thinking along the lines of panfish like blue gills, crappies, etc.
Thanks for the response.
Welcome dengeorge from a cheesehead transplant to TN. There should be some good spots not far from you.
Lake Keesus, Pine Lake and Big Cedar Lake are pretty quiet with decent panfish populations. If you have kayaks, Beaver Lake is nice too.
Hello, that is good info. I checked the map and Pine Lake is just the right distance for a after school trip with my Son, about 25 miles.
By any chance, have you been there lately with any success? If you only had time to hit either Lake Keesus or Pine Lake, which one would you hit? Are bait shops close by? And last question, If I get a DNR day pass for me (I read where since my son is 15, he won't need one, right?) those lakes are open to the public, right?
Thanks again for taking time to answer my questions.
I prefer Pine Lake over Keesus. I was on Pine this week. The gills were in about 20 FOW. There is Dick Smith's Live Bait & Tackle where I94 and 83 intersect. The boat launch and parking at Keesus is a real pain. It's been a few years since I've been on Keesus. Alot of panfish in there the last time I was there though. Tell your son to enjoy his last year of not needing to purchase a license. He's good to go.

Yes your son doesn't need a license this year but will next year. Wisconsin has a one day license you can get online for $10.
BTW, dengeorge, if you haven't had a Wisconsin fishing license in 10 years or more, you can get an annual license for $5. Just a thought.
Appreciate the info, will post after we get a chance to go.
