Well guys, Ben and I and Rich and George went to the Pet today.
Ben and I in Ben's boat and Rich and George in Rich's boat.
We got on the water bout 0630 and Ben and I started trollin right away. Rich and George start out castin.
I'll let Rich post about their day so this is just for me and Ben.
We started catchin fish right away, but they were short.
We continued to put fish in the boat but none were keeper size.
We had 19 fish by 0945 and we were averaging 6 fish an hour. That's 1 every 10 min. Then the bite just kinda quit. We kept fishin till 1230 but never caught another fish. Had a few bites but no fish after 0945.
Rich and George were doin about the same as us BUT, they caught 5 keepers out of 18 fish I believe they said.
The fish quit bitin for them about the same time as well.
IDK what it is but when they quit bitin they QUIT.
Might as well just call it a day and get off the water then. No sense in wastin time and gas.
ANYWAY, we don't have any pics of our catches but Rich and George took a couple of pics of theirs. They were all C&R today.
I was goin to take fish out to Old Jim and Barbara but we didn't catch any keepers. AGAIN, I was a little too over confident about us catchin keeper fish and didn't tell R&G to keep any. SO, NOBODY kept any fish today, so sorry Jim, maybe next time.
Had a great day on the water with Ben and we did catch quite a few fish just nothing we could keep. Thanks buddy.
By the way, I managed to fish all morning without hitin Ben in the head today.

You being more mindful, or Ben posted to the other end of the boat?
You may not have taken any home, but it sounds like you guys had plenty of action to justify the gas to get out on the water.

We had a good time. After the bite cooled off it was just a long hopeful boat ride... LOL! 19 fish is OK! But a keeper or two would have been nice.

First of all I would like to thank Ben for meeting us today. Wasn’t certain how my motor would perform being that it’s been in and out of the shop for the last two months, mostly waiting on parts. Great to have that security of another boat near by in case someone gos to crap. Well the motor ran great, trolling, cruising, and open throttle. Was the fist time out with out a break down and since I installed my new trolling motor. What nice unit. Love the spot-lock option. It was also the first time out since I installed my new Simrad fish Finder to be able learn and dial it in. One heck of a nice unit. Plus we caught some nice fish although like Saw said it was a little slow. Honestly couldn’t ask for a better day. And thanks again Ben!

I'm sure they'll be there the next time we fish it. We might not catch them but they'll probly be there anyway.

Sounds like a fun day for all involved, despite no one bringing any home. Glad to hear that Ben didn't get a headache, and that your boat ran good Rich! Thanks for sharing your trip guys.

I think that Saw was really trying to Knight him. Like they do in England. Rather than a sword , he used his rod . Now that Saw no longer has a boat he was passing the torch the Ben. Ben has now been knighted as the new striper king of the Petaluma!!!
