John Purdue was a very wealthy business man from Tippecanoe county. He is buried on the campus that bears his name. When it was announced that Congress had okyed partial funding for a major university in Indiana John Purdue and another entrepreneur, who's name escapes me,placed matching bids on tracks of land. To settle the issue the men decided to play a game of cribbage. The winner getting to decide the location
