I'm contemplating starting a new hobby and ran across the word Dross. So I looked it up.
It's a interesting word at that.
Sorry I couldn't give you the new hobby just yet as it would give away the answer.
I will however start a new thread on the subject soon as I am new to the subject.
So here's the question ❓
What does the word Dross mean?

Dross is unwanted debris. Like when I melt lead to cast bullets. The dross will float to the top and is skimmed off.

If any fisherfolks have made their own sinkers, or bullets, they would know this term by another name, 'slag'! I think 'dross' is more a Biblical word. Just Sayin...RJS

Yes RJS, working in the material science labs, I heard dross a few times, although I agree, slag is more commonly used today.

Congratulations to Papacom357 and
Robert J Samples for the best answers.
Dross is the unwanted debris or slag that floats to the top When melting metal.
I'm actually contemplating buying a small table top furnace to melt a large amount of copper that I have to make jewelry, for my grandchildren to sell. The term Dross came up when researching the subject.
So congratulations to the both of you.
Be sure to melt down some metal, clear away the dross and craft yourselves a fancy crown 👑
